Website Build
Behind the Build: Crafting a Website for a Local Bookshop
How the Process is Going
WEEK 0
Initial Consultation
In-person consultation
Met at a local coffee shop to connect and discuss the progress of her soon-to-open bookshop
Talked through the current status of the business, including opening timelines and foundational goals
Reviewed what she had already built for her website and identified areas of confusion or frustration
Took time to understand not just what needed to be built—but the deeper meaning, mission, and heart behind the business
Shared my vision for the website and explained the strategy behind each design choice
Collaborated to shape a direction that felt aligned with her purpose, her values, and her customer experience
Ensured the ideation process was truly collaborative—because a website that reflects the soul of a business has to start with the person behind it
WEEK 1
Website Build
Website Build Progress with Collaborative Review
Built out the website to bring it significantly closer to the look and feel she envisioned
Invited her to review the progress and provide honest feedback
Listened carefully to her preferences and made thoughtful adjustments based on her input
Made sure the website reflected her—her style, her values, and the experience she wants to create for her customers
Reaffirmed that this is her space online, and my role is to help her feel proud and seen in every detail
WEEK 2
Refining the Vision
Second check-in
Continued refining the site based on her feedback and evolving vision
Honed the layout, visuals, and messaging to better match her preferences and goals
Checked in for another round of review to ensure everything still felt true to her and her business
Made thoughtful adjustments to ensure the site not only looked right—but felt right to her
Reinforced that her voice and comfort with the site are key to its success
